Fred Douglas Society brings decades of experience to the job
June 3, 2021 – Effective today, the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg has transferred ownership of Kiwanis Chateau to the Fred Douglas Society, a local leader in non-profit seniors housing and programs.
Kiwanis selected the Fred Douglas Society as the new owner based on the organization’s decades of leadership in 55+ life lease projects and other affordable options for seniors housing. In 1988, the Fred Douglas Society established the second life lease project in Manitoba, Fred Douglas Place. The Kiwanis legacy and commitment to affordable, high-quality living alternatives for Winnipeg seniors will continue with the new ownership structure.
With this change, the Fred Douglas Society now owns a total of seven properties in Winnipeg, ranging from 55+ independent living apartments to communities designed for seniors needing more support.
